Shanghai, June 17th – At the SNEC PV Power and ESS Expo 2025, Sungrow convened a PhD Talk session titled "Evolving Value, Intelligent Future." The session addressed strategies for managing energy industry cycles and reshaping its trajectory through innovation, sharing Sungrow's insights and initiatives.
Photovoltaics (PV), particularly with storage, is transitioning from a supplementary to a primary energy source. This growth intensifies the generation-grid capacity mismatch, highlighting the critical need for integrated solar-storage systems.
Sungrow presented its Solar Storage Value Evolution Theory, advocating a move beyond component cost competition towards holistic system value optimization. This is realized through the 5A Fusion Solution framework for inverters: All-Day Cost Efficiency, All-scenario Reliability, All-Link Safety, All-Life Smart O&M, and All-Grid Forming. The theory underpins newly launched products like the 1+X 2.0 Modular Inverter and high-power string inverters.
"The rules have changed. We've shifted from a cost-per-component sprint to a holistic system value decathlon," stated Dr. Nianan Pan, Sungrow Utility PV Inverter BU Chief Expert. Sungrow's history, from pioneering the first 1500V inverter to modular designs, reflects its drive for system-wide value transformation.
Global energy storage installations surged nearly 90% in 2024. As the market grows, diverse regional and application demands render standardized solutions insufficient, ushering in an era of diverse value requiring platformization.
Dr. Zhuang Cai, Sungrow Energy Storage BU Product Management GM, emphasized that varied global needs necessitate moving beyond single products. Sungrow responded by launching the PowerTitan 3.0 Energy Storage System Platform. Leveraging nearly two decades of expertise, it integrates electrochemistry, power electronics, and grid tech into modular, reconfigurable clusters. It's supported by five foundational platforms (full-chain testing, intelligent manufacturing, panoramic simulation, panoramic testing, global data) creating a "Simulation-Manufacturing-Validation-Innovation" loop.
Dr. Cai clarified that true platformization demands deep technological, product, and data accumulation, not just modularity. Sungrow aims for comprehensive safety, performance, cost, and lifecycle optimization. "Our 'Grid to Cell' philosophy enables platforms that dynamically respond to real grid events, delivering the flexibility, reliability, and maintainability customers require," added Priank Cangy, Sungrow Overseas Grid Model Manager.
With accelerating solar-storage integration and competition, Sungrow identifies innovation and system optimization as critical drivers. The focus is on maximizing Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE) efficiency, enhancing grid support, and ensuring long-term project viability. Sungrow cites four strategic advantages:
28 years of industry expertise.
"Triple-E" Technology (Power Electronics, Electrochemistry, Electrical Grid).
Rich data assets enabling technical moats.
An innovation flywheel transitioning from product maker to ecosystem builder.
Sungrow aims to redraw clean energy's blueprint, shifting the industry's value paradigm from scale expansion to co-creation.
Patrick Zank, VDE Global Director of Renewable Energy, highlighted the need for future success: "The industry must cultivate deep technical understanding, system-level optimization, and build closed-loop ecosystems for lasting value."
Sungrow envisions leading the next clean energy phase, not only through world-class products but also by shaping future standards and building a sustainable bridge. Stay tuned for future PhD Talks.
