SNEC 2025, Shanghai, June 11, 2025 – Global energy storage leader HiTHIUM unveiled the world’s first mass-produced kilowatt-hour (kAh) battery cell – the ∞Cell 1175Ah – at SNEC 2025. Announced during its "Leading the Future, Forged for Safety" technology event, this milestone marks the start of scaled deployment for long-duration energy storage (LDES). Production commenced at HiTHIUM’s Chongqing manufacturing base.
Anticipating the LDES era, HiTHIUM invested in kAh R&D and manufacturing as early as 2022. Overcoming unprecedented size, process, and quality challenges, the Chongqing base delivered five key innovations:
Precision Coating: Achieved coating mass density COV < 0.2% with high-precision CCD inspection.
High-Speed Stacking: Reached 0.5mm alignment accuracy at 0.1625 seconds/sheet, boosting throughput by 35%.
Patented Structure: Proprietary "integrated 3D airflow top cover" design ensures stability and strength.
Efficient Back-End: High-efficiency baking, 1.2MPa isostatic filling, and high-rate formation boosted efficiency by 45%.
Consistent Wrapping: Flexible lamination rollers eliminated wrinkling/bubbling in ultra-large cells.
As capacity grows, safety remains paramount. HiTHIUM implements a multi-level safety architecture:
Cell: Advanced electrolyte forms high-temp resistant SEI/CEI layers.
Pack: Dual-mode thermal protection halts propagation and oxygen ingress.
BMS: Functional safety & cybersecurity with multi-modal algorithms and redundancy.
System: Multi-layer fireproofing, reinforced frames, and intelligent suppression systems maintain integrity.
The ∞Cell 1175Ah received UL 1973 and UL 9540A certifications from UL Solutions, validating global safety standards and enabling North American market entry.
Concurrently, HiTHIUM signed a strategic agreement with Israel's top EPC, El-Mor, launching its first LDES project in Romania.
As a top 3 global energy storage battery supplier, HiTHIUM’s mass production of the ∞Cell 1175Ah demonstrates its capacity to break industry bottlenecks. This innovation positions the cell as the new benchmark for the accelerating LDES market.
