Sungrow Debuts Next-Gen PowerTitan 3.0 for MEA Energy Market

Sungrow Debuts Next-Gen PowerTitan 3.0

Dubai, U.A.E., August 25, 2025 — Sungrow, a major global supplier of PV inverters and energy storage systems, has introduced its newest product—the PowerTitan 3.0—at the 2025 MEA PV & ESS Summit in Dubai. Designed specifically for the challenging environmental conditions of the Middle East and Africa, the system incorporates advanced thermal management, updated battery technology, and grid-forming functionality, raising standards for performance and safety in industrial energy storage.

The PowerTitan 3.0 is a fully liquid-cooled AC storage system capable of 2–4 hours of operation. In a 20-foot layout, it combines a 1.72 MW power conversion system with 6.9 MWh battery capacity, scaling up to 6.9 MW/27.6 MWh per block. Using silicon carbide technology, the system reaches 99.3% efficiency and sustains full output at temperatures up to 55°C, helping achieve a system-wide conversion efficiency of 92%.

A key update lies in its redesigned battery cells, which use a stacked architecture (684Ah/661Ah) to reduce internal resistance and mitigate risks such as lithium plating and thermal runaway. An AI-powered management system improves diagnostic accuracy above 95% for plating and 99% for heat events. Energy density now reaches 467 kWh/m², and a compact back-to-back layout cuts space requirements for a 1 GWh plant by 22% compared to earlier versions.

The system also introduces plant-level state-of-charge balancing through integrated AC-DC design, assigning one converter per rack. With less than 3% SOC error and auto-calibration, it achieves up to 8% more discharge over its lifespan.

Built for extreme conditions, PowerTitan 3.0 uses a top-exhaust design to minimize heat recirculation, limiting intake temperature rise to 1.53°C at 55°C ambient—cutting auxiliary power use by 9%. AI-assisted thermal management further reduces energy consumption by 10%. The unit is protected to IP55 and C5 anti-corrosion levels, suitable for desert, coastal, and dusty applications. Sungrow has validated safety through large-scale burn tests on earlier models, confirming zero fire spread.

The system also supports grid-forming functions, aiding renewable integration in complex projects like Saudi Arabia’s NEOM, with black start capacity and millisecond response times.

Sungrow has deployed over 15 GWh of storage throughout the MEA region over the past ten years. The release of PowerTitan 3.0 and the 1+X 2.0 Modular Inverter underscores the company’s continued investment in regional energy transition efforts.
