
At The Smarter E Europe 2026 on June 24, energy storage specialist HiTHIUM expanded its global product portfolio with the official introduction of its latest commercial and industrial (C&I) solution: the ∞Power 1022kWh liquid-cooled C&I energy storage cabinet. Utilizing the manufacturer's proprietary ∞Cell 1175Ah large-format energy storage cells, the newly launched system aims to address international C&I market demands for enhanced safety, high footprint integration, longer-duration functionality, and reduced levelized cost of storage (LCOS).
The launch comes at a time when accelerating renewable energy integration and ongoing electricity market reforms are reshaping C&I user requirements. Beyond traditional applications like peak shaving and load shifting, businesses are increasingly prioritizing holistic energy management, multi-hour discharge capabilities, and asset revenue optimization across the technology lifecycle. This shifting landscape is pushing C&I energy storage hardware toward higher capacity thresholds, dense integration, longer operational durations, and stronger project economics—trends that HiTHIUM intends to address through this large-capacity cell platform, integrated configuration, and digital tracking features.
Configured with a 1P272S system architecture, the cabinet delivers a nominal capacity of 1022.72kWh, packing roughly 1MWh of energy storage into a single standalone enclosure. By building the system around the premium ∞Cell 1175Ah platform, the design maintains elevated energy density while minimizing the overall cabinet count and complex wiring connections typically required at project sites. Compared to a standard 1MWh layout using four separate 261kWh cabinets, the integrated unit offers a footprint reduction of approximately 32%. Occupying roughly 3.4 square meters with a spatial capacity density of nearly 300kWh/m², the system optimizes land-use efficiency and offers developers broader deployment flexibility.
Safety features serve as the technical baseline for the system's operational architecture. The ∞Power 1022kWh cabinet incorporates a multi-layer safety framework spanning the cell level, system engineering, thermal management, fire mitigation, and intelligent automated monitoring. At its core, the system utilizes stable lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry, leveraging the company’s specialized R&D and manufacturing experience in large-capacity cell formats. On a system-wide level, integrated liquid cooling controls temperature variation across individual cells during sustained charge and discharge cycles.
The battery enclosure is engineered to manage insulation, fire spread, and abnormal thermal behavior. Integrated smoke, temperature, and gas detection sensors provide early warnings, enabling coordinated protection protocols before faults escalate. Furthermore, the product has been designed to align with NFPA 855 guidelines, incorporating a built-in aerosol fire suppression mechanism alongside a dedicated water fire protection hookup, with plans to advance the system through the rigorous UL 9540A testing and certification framework.
As commercial storage business models shift toward long-term operational returns, lifecycle economics have become central to project bankability. The ∞Power 1022kWh cabinet is rated for a 0.25P charge and discharge rate, aligning with multi-hour applications including energy arbitrage, demand-charge management, co-located solar-plus-storage optimization, emergency backup power, and localized microgrids. The high-capacity cell configuration and consolidated design reduce the count of external connection components and streamline on-site installation steps, mitigating initial capital expenditure. Additionally, the liquid-cooling system, responsive energy management, and remote operations and maintenance (O&M) platforms help maintain high system uptime, delivering an estimated round-trip efficiency of 90% alongside low auxiliary power draws to support long-term investment performance.
Environmental durability remains a key aspect of the physical design. The cabinet features wide-temperature operating windows, an IP55 ingress protection rating, and a C5M anti-corrosion coating, making it suitable for deployment in high-humidity, high-salinity, and challenging outdoor environments. The internal liquid-cooling hardware utilizes an eco-friendly refrigerant that complies with current European environmental regulations. Finally, the structural design accounts for logistical constraints and local site conditions, with engineered tolerances for heavy lifting, transport vibrations, high wind and snow loads, as well as seismic activity to ensure stability across diverse operating regions.
The introduction of the ∞Power 1022kWh liquid-cooled cabinet marks a clear effort by HiTHIUM to migrate its long-duration energy storage technology into the C&I market vertical. Moving forward, the company indicates it will maintain its focus on high-safety cell engineering, highly consolidated system integration, automated O&M tools, and international supply chain delivery to accelerate the adoption of multi-hour energy storage across various global applications.
