Welion Successfully Grid-Connects Two Co-Located PV Energy Storage Projects in Hungary

Welion New Energy has reached another milestone in the European market with the successful grid connection of two co-located photovoltaic (PV) energy storage projects in Hungary. The projects, which support the solar power plants of Elektro Energy Kft. – a well‑known Hungarian electrical engineering company – have completed on‑site commissioning and are now officially linked to the grid. This achievement further validates the reliable performance of Welion’s solid‑state energy storage systems in complex overseas grid environments.

As an industry pioneer, Welion developed this highly standardized station configuration based on its deep understanding of the local European market and the grid‑access rules of Distribution System Operators (DSOs). The grid‑connected projects adopt Welion’s 522 product solution, with each 1.5MWh station equipped with three 522kWh Spower II semi‑solid‑state energy storage cabinets. Leveraging the core strengths of the Spower II – including high safety and long cycle life – and combined with flexible PCS configuration capabilities, this standardized solution precisely meets the stringent regulatory requirements of local DSOs and is earning growing recognition and trust from an increasing number of European customers.

For the Power Conversion System (PCS) configuration, the project utilizes two Inpower 375kW PCS cabinets. Beyond satisfying the basic energy market requirements, the system can flexibly respond to local frequency regulation market needs. With an ultra‑fast response time of just 20 milliseconds, it has successfully passed the strict frequency regulation market tests, providing strong support for grid frequency stability.

During the project commissioning phase, Mr. Yu Haodong, President of Welion Europe, visited the site in person to gain an in‑depth understanding of the project’s progress and system operation. He gave high praise to the professional capabilities and delivery outcomes of the project team. President Yu’s visit fully demonstrates Welion’s strong commitment to the European market and its focus on localized services.
