Yichang CORNEX Phase II 80GWh Battery Facility Begins Operations

CORNEX has officially brought its Yichang Phase II lithium battery industrial park online, marking a major expansion of its production capacity and a stronger push into the global energy storage market. The commissioning was completed on August 9.

The facility in Yichang, Hubei province, has a designed annual capacity of 80GWh, with one plant alone able to produce more than 30GWh per year. It will focus on research, development, and large-scale manufacturing of energy storage batteries, EV batteries, and battery pack modules. CORNEX has installed an upgraded flexible intelligent manufacturing system across the site, which the company says sets a new industry standard for precision and automation. The lines are specifically configured to accommodate large-format cells from 500Ah to 1000Ah, enabling the company to meet a wide range of application requirements globally.

In a parallel development, CORNEX began mass production of its proprietary 588Ah large-capacity energy storage battery the same day. The cell is engineered for next-generation storage applications and integrates high energy density, enhanced safety, and an extended cycle life. According to CORNEX, the 588Ah product significantly improves the economics and reliability of large-scale storage power stations and commercial energy storage systems, providing a more efficient solution to support the shift toward renewable energy.

Going forward, CORNEX says it will maintain an innovation-first approach and strengthen its industrial foundation.
