Sungrow Launches Game-Changing PowerTitan 3.0 ESS Platform with Record Energy Density and Grid-Forming Capabilities

Hefei, China – June 6, 2025 – Sungrow, a global leader in inverter and energy storage technology, has officially launched its groundbreaking PowerTitan 3.0 energy storage system (ESS) platform. Designed to meet the growing demands of utility-scale projects, this next-generation solution sets new industry benchmarks in energy density, deployment flexibility, and intelligent grid support.

PowerTitan 3.0: A New Era of Flexibility and Performance

The PowerTitan 3.0 ESS platform is available in multiple configurations, including the 10ft Flex (3.45MWh), 20ft Class (6.9MWh), and 30ft Plus (12.5MWh) versions. It supports energy durations ranging from 2 to 12 hours and operates reliably in extreme temperatures from -40°C to +55°C and altitudes up to 5,000 meters—without performance derating.

A Global First in Battery Innovation

The 30ft PowerTitan 3.0 Plus version introduces a revolutionary 684Ah stacking battery cell, setting a new global benchmark for energy density and scale. Each AC block delivers up to 12.5MW/50MWh, making it the highest-capacity BESS in the world. The advanced design reduces land use by 45% and cabling requirements by 10%, optimizing both space and capital expenditures.

These high-capacity cells—now in mass production—offer an impressive 448Wh/L energy density and over 15,000 cycles. Innovative safety features such as Thermo-Electric Separation technology and proprietary heat-insulating layers prevent thermal propagation and ensure safe, stable operation even under stress.

SiC PCS: Liquid-Cooled and Ultra-Efficient

In a first for the industry, Sungrow integrates a fully liquid-cooled Silicon Carbide Power Conversion System (SiC PCS) at scale, delivering 450kW per unit with up to 99.3% efficiency. Even in high-temperature environments like the Middle East, the system maintains optimal performance, achieving a round-trip efficiency (RTE) of 93.5%.

Smarter, Faster Deployment

The PowerTitan 3.0 platform is built for rapid deployment with pre-installed and pre-integrated modules. Factory-level configuration reduces on-site commissioning time, shortening project timelines by up to 17 days for a 1GWh installation.

Advanced AI tools such as PowerBidder enable real-time electricity market trading, while PowerDoctor, Sungrow’s predictive O&M tool, identifies and resolves over 30 types of faults with more than 99% accuracy.

Grid-Forming Intelligence Embedded

At the heart of PowerTitan 3.0 is Sungrow’s Stem-Cell Grid-Forming Technology 2.0. The platform ensures seamless switching between grid-following and grid-forming modes and offers unmatched response time (as fast as 20ms) to grid disturbances. It supports black start capability, adapts to SCR ranges from 1 to 40, and handles phase angle jumps up to 90°, enhancing grid stability and unlocking new revenue streams from ancillary services.

Now Commercially Available

PowerTitan 3.0 is now available globally. According to Xu Qingqing, Vice President of Sungrow and President of its Energy Storage Business Unit, “This platform transforms complex grid requirements into reliable, efficient, and profitable clean energy solutions ready for immediate deployment.”
