Narada, in partnership with Tailan New Energy, has announced a significant breakthrough in fast-charging and thermal management for lithium batteries powering light electric vehicles. Their newly developed ultra-fast charging battery supports 6C charging, achieving an 80% state of charge in just nine minutes.

Cold-Core Battery: Advancing Cylindrical Tech

This battery leverages Tailan New Energy's next-generation large cylindrical cell platform, the Cold-Core Battery. Through coordinated innovation in structure, materials, and manufacturing, the Cold-Core technology delivers a substantial leap in fast-charging performance.

Structurally, it employs a unique axial and bottom dual-zone thermal conduction design, markedly improving thermal management. Material innovations boost electron and ion transport speeds within the electrodes for higher charge/discharge rates. Manufacturing adopts a modular design, enhancing production line compatibility and paving the way for large-scale commercialization.

This multi-faceted approach resolves the traditional conflict between fast charging and heat dissipation. Combined with a wide operating temperature range (-30°C to 55°C) and over 30 core patents, the technology positions Chinese firms as leaders in the global cylindrical battery market.

Performance and Safety Combined

Effective thermal management is critical for high-rate charging. Cylindrical cells' inherent structure limits cooling plate contact, and dense packing for energy density complicates heat dissipation. Narada addressed these challenges with breakthroughs in pack structural design and engineering.

For thermal contact, the design is tailored to the Cold-Core cell casing. High-conductivity interface materials fill microscopic gaps, ensuring zero-gap, tight coupling with cooling plates for rapid heat extraction during fast charging.

Pack layout, optimized using CFD simulations and incorporating heat-spreading plates, creates an efficient internal 3D thermal conduction network. This maintains temperature variation below 3°C, preventing hot spots, enhancing safety during fast charging and extreme conditions, and extending cycle life.

Additionally, continuous thermal conduction air channels and directional vent structures ensure targeted gas discharge in the rare event of thermal runaway. Beyond hardware, Narada developed a proprietary BMS for light EVs, featuring upgrades in hardware reliability, software platformization, and intelligent applications for enhanced diagnostics, remote troubleshooting, and safety.

This collaboration, powered by Cold-Core technology, redefines light-duty lithium battery performance and sets a new industry benchmark for safe fast charging through full-chain thermal management innovation.

With this ultra-fast charging battery entering commercialization, the electric two- and three-wheeler market faces significant transformation.
