CATL, BASF Forge Global Cathode Materials Alliance

Leading battery manufacturer CATL and global chemical company BASF have signed a framework agreement for cathode active materials (CAM). This pact establishes global cooperation between the two industry heavyweights on advanced and innovative CAM solutions.

Under the agreement, CATL has designated BASF as a key supplier. BASF will leverage its extensive global production network to bolster CATL's international business growth and manufacturing footprint.

BASF, recognized for its materials science expertise and sustainability focus, is a major supplier of advanced lithium-ion battery cathode materials. The company combines R&D capabilities with a robust production infrastructure to deliver high-performance, tailored solutions meeting the standards of partners like CATL.

Dr. Daniel Schönfelder, President of BASF's Battery Materials division, stated: "We are proud to work with CATL, a global market leader in battery technology. This new framework builds upon a strategic partnership initiated by the companies in 2021, which covered battery materials solutions including CAM and recycling, aiming to foster a sustainable battery value chain.
