CALB unveils next-generation ZHIJIU full-stack energy storage at EES Europe 2026

CALB, the Chinese battery technology specialist, used this year's EES Europe & Intersolar Europe in Munich to roll out its complete ZHIJIU series of energy storage solutions. Spanning utility-scale plants, commercial and industrial parks, and emerging applications, the portfolio is anchored by long-cycle cells and standardised system platforms. With an integrated delivery model covering cells, systems and after-sales service, CALB says it can drive down the levelised cost of storage (LCOS) across the asset lifetime, giving project developers a clearer path to safe, efficient and cost-competitive green power.

Utility-scale – liquid-cooled backbone for European grids

The utility-scale line-up features a full-stack liquid-cooled integrated architecture, engineered to meet Europe's demanding grid-code and environmental requirements. A 25-year design life and high energy density position these systems as reliable foundation assets for front-of-meter storage.

661Ah ultra-large laminated long-cycle cell

The flagship product adopts the industry's first third-generation lamination process combined with advanced lithium-compensation technology. Rated for 15,000 charge-discharge cycles, it exhibits zero capacity degradation over the first three years and a calendar life of 25 years – a new performance benchmark.

588Ah large-capacity wound long-cycle cell

Designed as a proven workhorse for full-duration storage, this wound cell leverages mature manufacturing processes and long-cycle chemistry to create differentiated value for investors seeking reliable, bankable assets.

6.25MWh 2nd-generation ZHIJIU liquid-cooled container

The new container strikes an optimal balance between energy density and transport logistics within standard 20-foot dimensions. It delivers roughly 25 % higher unit capacity than its predecessor while cutting the number of system components by approximately 40 %, simplifying installation and maintenance.

20ft 6.9MWh & 10ft “10MWh+” modular systems

The 20ft version offers enhanced density and reduced capital expenditure. More notable is the 10ft decoupled architecture, which simplifies shipping and on-site assembly, accelerating construction and grid-connection timelines – an ideal fit for future long-duration storage projects where modularity and speed are paramount.

Industrial & commercial – flexible, safe, payback-focused

For C&I parks, CALB presented two liquid-cooled outdoor cabinets (261 kWh and 418 kWh) equipped with ventilation and explosion-relief structures, forming a multi-layer active fire-protection system. They support single-unit or multi-parallel configurations and come with full European and American certifications. Paired with long-cycle cells and full-range liquid cooling, the cabinets are said to deliver superior safety and life-cycle economics, shortening payback periods for commercial users.

Beyond bulk storage – emerging applications

CALB's long-cycle cell family, which includes its globally mass-produced 314 Ah Gen2.0 cells, underpins a wide variety of emerging storage use cases – from behind-the-meter peak shaving to hybrid renewable-plus-storage projects. The company sees these cells as the core building block for next-generation energy systems that require both endurance and flexibility.

With a comprehensive ecosystem spanning utility-scale, C&I and diversified scenarios, CALB is positioning itself as a professional battery-technology partner for the global energy transition. Its combination of leading cell innovation, standardised system design and full-scenario adaptability, the company says, will help accelerate decarbonisation while keeping projects economically sustainable.
