Sunwoda Unveils 684Ah and 588Ah Energy Storage Batteries

Amid accelerating global energy transformation, energy storage is evolving from a supplementary role to a core pillar, linking renewable sources to power grids. According to BloombergNEF and IEA forecasts, worldwide new energy storage installations are projected to grow at a 30%-40% annual compound rate through 2030. This surge drives demand for large-capacity, high-safety, and long-life storage cells, which are key to reducing levelized costs and enhancing system integration efficiency.

At this pivotal industry juncture, Sunwoda showcased its 684Ah and 588Ah energy storage cells at the 2025 International Digital Energy Expo in Shenzhen on September 18. These innovations address critical industry challenges, delivering diverse and reliable solutions for high-quality storage development.

The 684Ah cell employs advanced stacking technology, achieving a volumetric energy density exceeding 440 Wh/L, outperforming similar products. It integrates a "thermal-electric separation" design with a 3D cooling structure, optimizing thermal management to boost operational safety and long-term reliability. With a lifespan of over 20 years, it supports sustained operations and fits various container sizes, including 10-foot, 20-foot, and 30-foot options. Its high energy density and ease of maintenance lower the levelized cost of electricity by 8% compared to conventional approaches, speeding up project deployment and improving economic returns.

The 588Ah LiFePO4 cell utilizes proven winding processes and innovative low-lithium loss technology to mitigate capacity degradation over time, offering a cycle life of 10,000 cycles at 70% state of health and a service life exceeding 20 years, ensuring outstanding economy throughout its lifecycle. It achieves 96.5% energy efficiency, paired with high-safety electrolytes and directed venting channels, guaranteeing stable system performance while further optimizing electricity costs, making it ideal for cost-sensitive applications.

Chen Tao, General Manager of Sunwoda's Energy Storage Cell Division, emphasized that the launch of these cells reflects the company's commitment to innovation and advancing large-capacity storage technology, aiming to provide secure, high-quality, and adaptable products for diverse scenarios.

With the introduction of the 684Ah and 588Ah lifepo4 battery cells, Sunwoda has built a comprehensive storage product portfolio spanning multiple technical routes and capacities. Though based on different processes—stacking and winding—both cells share core advantages of long life, high efficiency, and cost-effectiveness, empowering a wide range of storage applications with precise and dependable solutions.

Looking ahead, Sunwoda will continue to enhance its technological innovation and manufacturing capabilities, driving global energy transition and sustainability with products featuring higher energy density, extended lifespan, and superior system value.

These breakthroughs are supported by Sunwoda's nearly three decades of expertise in the lithium battery sector. The company has expanded beyond traditional battery manufacturing to offer integrated green and efficient energy solutions, covering consumer batteries, EV power cells, and storage systems. It provides end-to-end services from cells and modules to system integration, testing, and recycling. At the expo, Sunwoda also highlighted its battery passport and recycling initiatives, strengthening its digital energy ecosystem.

The battery passport serves as a digital ID for a battery's full lifecycle, mandating disclosure of eight sustainability data categories and acting as a key credential for EU market access. Leveraging a full-lifecycle data platform, Sunwoda ensures data integrity through triple collection methods, uses AI to cut manual audits by 90%, integrates 22 international standards to shorten certification by 88%, and secures data with high-level encryption and blockchain backups.

Battery recycling is a crucial part of Sunwoda's "Five Comprehensive" strategy for full industry chain coverage. With Shenzhen as a hub, the company is advancing base construction worldwide to build a circular economy network. It focuses on lithium battery recycling for ternary and LFP systems and secondary use, streamlining the entire chain from collection to regeneration and application, thereby boosting comprehensive capabilities in recycling and repurposing.
