Gotion Launches CTB Rear-Integrated Battery for Heavy-Duty Trucks

CTB Heavy-Truck Battery

Gotion High-Tech has introduced a new CTB rear-integrated battery product for heavy-duty trucks, claiming a vehicle weight reduction of about 400 kg. The launch comes as electric heavy trucks accelerate from closed applications such as ports and mining areas into open scenarios including interprovincial trunk-line logistics and intercity transport, driven by dual-carbon goals and demand for lower logistics costs. Range, charging efficiency and payload performance remain the core challenges for large-scale adoption.

According to the company, the new product marks a shift from independent battery packs to a chassis-integrated solution based on native vehicle integration. Traditional heavy-truck batteries often use a “single-pack” structure with redundant frames, brackets and connectors, which occupy space and add weight to the battery power system. CTB, or Cell to Bracket, removes redundant frame and module levels and embeds cells into the vehicle through a highly integrated bracket carrier, allowing weight reduction and space release at the vehicle level.

Compared with single-pack solutions, Gotion’s new CTB rear-integrated heavy-truck product offers several stated advantages. The battery system height is reduced to 943 mm, a 40% decrease, lowering the center of gravity and improving driving stability. The pack volume is further reduced, with volumetric energy density reaching 250 Wh/L and higher integration. The vehicle weight is cut by about 400 kg, while energy density exceeds 160 Wh/kg; the saved weight can be converted directly into effective payload.

Different operating scenarios for electric heavy trucks are also creating differentiated battery requirements. In short shuttle transport, a 400 kWh battery can support a vehicle’s single-day turnaround. In interprovincial trunk-line logistics, 600 kWh and above is needed for long-distance continuous operation. Gotion’s new CTB rear-integrated product is designed for flexibility in this regard, covering 400 kWh to 700 kWh so users can choose a capacity version matching actual operating needs.

On safety and maintenance, the product adopts a “water-electricity separation” design with external cooling water pipes. This avoids the potential threat of coolant leakage to battery cells and simplifies subsequent repair and maintenance. For low-temperature operations, the product offers a “liquid cooling and liquid heating plus optional PTC” solution. In addition to temperature control through coolant circulation, users can opt for a PTC ceramic heating device to quickly raise battery temperature in severe cold, helping the battery maintain a suitable operating temperature and stable charging and discharging efficiency. The product has also completed a 6,000 km vehicle durability road test, with reliability and stability fully verified, according to the company.

As the electric heavy-truck market expands rapidly, battery installations continue to rise. Industry statistics cited in the announcement show that from January to August 2026, Gotion ranked among the top five in heavy-truck market installations, up 51.5% year on year, remaining in the first tier of heavy-truck battery suppliers. With penetration rates climbing, competition in battery systems has moved beyond mere “capacity size” to a broader contest involving lightweight design, charging efficiency, environmental adaptability and full-lifecycle reliability. Moving from “single-pack stacking” to “system-level native integration,” Gotion’s new CTB rear-integrated heavy-truck product is positioned to reshape battery value from a vehicle perspective and provide a more practical technical path for electric heavy trucks to break through range and payload bottlenecks in trunk-line logistics.
