CALB Deepens Strategic Ties with GAC HORIZON for Advanced eVTOL Batteries

On August 8, CALB and Guangdong HORIZON Technology signed a strategic cooperation agreement to deepen collaboration in the eVTOL sector. This follows CALB's supply of industry-leading high-density batteries for HORIZON's AirCab. The partners will jointly advance standardized power solutions for electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft.

GAC HORIZON integrates automotive and aviation technologies, developing urban air mobility solutions for transportation and tourism. Its AirCab – equipped with CALB's top-tier aviation batteries – secured over 1,000 pre-orders after its June launch, with prototypes delivered in July. CALB's specialized 9-series Ni/Si batteries deliver 300+ Wh/kg density and 6C fast-charging, while next-gen semi-solid cells target 350 Wh/kg, positioning the company at aviation battery innovation's forefront. The AirCab is undergoing airworthiness certification ahead of planned 2026 mass production, with 2027 anticipated as low-altitude passenger flight's breakthrough year.

CALB's aviation batteries balance high-power output with lightweight safety, compatible with pure-electric/hybrid systems and multiple aircraft configurations. This aligns with HORIZON's "multi-rotor short-haul + compound-wing intercity" strategy, accelerating standardized eVTOL power system development.

This partnership signifies HORIZON's endorsement of CALB's technical capabilities and CALB's strategic commitment to flying vehicles. Sharing aligned visions for low-altitude economies, both companies will co-develop airworthiness standards while leveraging combined resources to advance safe, efficient urban air mobility services.
