BYD Energy Storage has revealed that its BatteryBox brand has now installed more than 1.5 million residential energy storage systems across global markets. The announcement was made on December 18, with the company pledging to continue expanding its product portfolio through 2025.
According to BYD, this milestone reflects a decade of dedicated effort in the residential and small-scale commercial storage sector. The company positions itself as one of the world's most widely adopted distributed energy storage providers. Detailed regional breakdowns of BatteryBox sales have not been disclosed.
The latest figures follow BYD’s report of one million systems installed by June 2024, presented at Germany’s Smarter E conference. This indicates approximately 500,000 new installations in the past 18 months.
Jiang Feng, Director of BYD’s Home Energy Storage Division, stated that the company is evolving from a battery supplier into a comprehensive green energy solutions partner. In 2025, BYD introduced an all-in-one solution incorporating batteries, inverters, a mobile app, and a cloud platform. Feng emphasized that upgraded automotive-grade cell technology delivers doubled value for users. He added that BYD plans to strengthen collaborations with global distributors and installers through localized marketing, professional training, and enhanced after-sales support.
Alongside the installation milestone, BYD outlined recent updates to its BatteryBox series:
The BatteryBox HVB system, the first home storage solution to adopt blade battery technology, achieves mass energy density of 108.8 Wh/kg and volumetric energy density of 162.88 Wh/L.
The BatteryBox HVE platform, described as the first integrated home energy storage system, features a modular design available in 4.29 kWh and 6.43 kWh configurations.
Additionally, BYD has launched the Power Box brand, which bundles BYD batteries with the company’s own branded inverters.
