What is CATL Battery Technology?

CATL, or Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited, is a Chinese battery manufacturer and technology company that specializes in the production of lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles and energy storage systems1 CATL is the world’s largest provider of EV batteries, with a market share of 37% in 2022. • CTP Technology: This stands for cell to pack, which means that the battery cells are directly integrated into the battery pack without using modules or other intermediate components. • CTC Technology: This stands for cell to chassis, which means that the battery cell is integrated with the vehicle body, chassis, electric drive, thermal management, and other modules. • High-voltage Technology: This involves the design of single-crystal particles and anti-oxidation electrolytes, which enable higher voltage and more active lithium in the battery. This improves the energy density and lowers the cost of the battery.
• Long Life Technology: This aims to extend the service life of the battery to 16 years or 2 million km, by using various techniques such as low-lithium consumption anode, passivated cathode, bionic self-repairing electrolyte, microstructural design in electrode sheet, adaptive management of expansive force, and life compensation technology. These techniques reduce the degradation and side reactions of the battery during cycles and storage.
• Condensed battery: a cutting-edge battery technology at Auto Shanghai. With an energy density of up to 500 Wh/kg, it can achieve high energy density and high level of safety at the same time in a creative manner, opening up a brand-new electrification scenario of passenger aircrafts.
