Shenzhen-based battery maker Sunwoda Electronic Co., Ltd. (SZSE: 300207; SIX: SWD) used this year's CIBF 2026 exhibition to put its full battery portfolio on display under the theme "Power Your Each Moment" — and the centerpiece of the showcase was a new Motorcycle Ultra-Fast Charging Battery that the company says can bring a two-wheeler to 80% state of charge in just 20 minutes. Ranked No. 11 on the Top 500 Global New Energy Enterprises list and an established supplier to Tier-1 smartphone and automotive customers worldwide, Sunwoda used the Shenzhen event to signal its ambitions in the rapidly growing light EV segment.
The new battery is designed to pair with 6 kW chargers, delivering a charge rate that Sunwoda claims is approximately three times faster than the leading scooter batteries currently available on the market. In practical terms, the company says a delivery rider could plug in during a short break and ride out with a meaningfully charged pack.
"A delivery rider can plug in during a coffee break and ride out fully usable," said Sandy Lv, General Manager of Sunwoda's Motorcycle Battery Business. "That behavior change is what unlocks ultra-fast charging as a commercial standard for light EVs."
To manage the thermal demands of high-power charging, the battery keeps inter-cell temperature variance within 3 °C — a figure the company positions as key to long-term reliability. The pack is rated for 2,000-plus charge cycles and a five-year service life, with IPX7 waterproofing, an operating range of –20 °C to 60 °C, and compatibility with over 90% of existing battery-swap stations.
Alongside the product launch, Sunwoda announced the formation of the Ultra-Fast Charging Alliance for Light Electric Mobility together with a group of industry partners. The alliance is focused on driving protocol standardization across the light EV charging ecosystem — a step observers see as necessary before ultra-fast charging can scale commercially beyond early adopters.
The battery has already completed design-in validation with several leading e-motorcycle brands, and pilot deployments are currently underway in Hangzhou. Mass production is scheduled for Q3 2026.
While the motorcycle battery attracted the most attention on the show floor, Sunwoda's broader exhibition reflected the company's strategy of pursuing application-tailored solutions across every major battery category.
The company highlighted its full vertical integration across materials, cells, systems, and recycling as the structural foundation enabling this breadth. Its portfolio spans consumer electronics, power batteries, marine systems, and stationary energy storage.
In consumer electronics, Sunwoda supplies batteries for smartphones, laptops, and connected devices. In the passenger EV segment, it showcased flash-charge battery technology capable of supporting ultra-fast charging at up to 1,800 A. For marine applications, the company presented battery-system capabilities for inland and coastal vessels. And in energy storage, its cell lineup on display at CIBF spanned 102 Ah to 684 Ah, covering residential, commercial-and-industrial, and utility-scale projects worldwide.
Sunwoda also used its CIBF presence to highlight progress on sustainability, including recycled-material adoption in its manufacturing processes and battery-passport implementation for lifecycle traceability. The company framed these initiatives as support for customers navigating an industry shift toward faster charging, safer systems, and more transparent end-of-life management.
