RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — Global battery pioneer CATL has officially inaugurated the NING SERVICE Experience Center in Riyadh. This milestone marks the first facility of its kind in the Middle East and currently stands as the largest new energy aftermarket hub outside of China, signaling a major leap for the region's electrification infrastructure.
The launch aligns with the rapid decarbonization goals of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which aims to transition 30% of vehicles in Riyadh to electric power by the end of the decade. While the region faces unique challenges—including extreme heat and a historical reliance on fossil fuels—CATL’s new 7,000-square-meter facility is designed to bridge the infrastructure gap by providing specialized technical support and energy storage solutions.
A Comprehensive Service Ecosystem The Riyadh center is more than a repair shop; it is a multi-functional hub featuring diagnostic zones, maintenance areas, refurbishment labs, and a premium customer lounge. By offering full-lifecycle support, CATL provides battery health checks, recycling, and aftermarket logistics across seven major product categories, ranging from passenger EVs to heavy-duty commercial storage systems.
For enterprise clients, this centralized expertise is expected to significantly reduce vehicle downtime and lower the total cost of ownership, providing the operational certainty needed to scale electric fleets in harsh desert environments.
Driving Localization and Local Talent Beyond hardware, the facility serves as a catalyst for local economic development. CATL is utilizing the center to train a new generation of Saudi technicians, facilitating knowledge transfer in the high-growth green energy sector. This follows CATL’s global "NING SERVICE" model, which has already certified nearly 10,000 professionals worldwide.
Strategic partnerships are already forming at the site. CATL is reportedly in talks with major local players, including fuel station operators looking to integrate green charging and infrastructure firms seeking to electrify logistics fleets.
"We see tremendous opportunities in this transformation," noted Ahmed Ibrahim, Assistant GM for Procurement at Al Drees. "Collaborating with leaders like CATL allows us to deploy solar-plus-storage solutions at gas stations and electrify our forklifts, directly reducing oil dependency."
A Global Network with Local Roots The Riyadh opening expands CATL’s massive global footprint, which now includes over 1,200 service stations across 76 countries. Lin Chaofan, CEO of F4S—the investor behind the center—expressed confidence that the partnership will accelerate the region’s role in the global energy transition.
"This is a long-term commitment to the region," said Bruce Li, President of Aftermarket Business at CATL. "The Riyadh center is an ecosystem hub designed to foster industry synergy. From here, we will continue to expand our network across the Middle East, ensuring that Saudi Arabia’s energy transition is backed by a reliable, world-class service system."
