Automotive INNOVATIONS Award 2023: CATL Honored as the Most Innovative Automotive Supplier in the “Drives” Category

On July 13th, Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Ltd. (CATL) was honored with the prestigious title of Most Innovative Automotive Supplier in the "Drives" category at the Automotive INNOVATIONS Awards 2023 ceremony for its groundbreaking Qilin battery. Held in Frankfurt, Germany, the ceremony celebrated CATL's exceptional contributions to the world of electric vehicle (EV) batteries.

Outshining 100 esteemed suppliers, CATL's remarkable innovations secured its victory. Notably, CATL is the sole Chinese company to be recognized across all categories this year.

Since 2012, the Automotive INNOVATIONS Awards, presented by Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC) and the Center of Automotive Management (CAM), have been acknowledging the most innovative achievements in the automotive industry. The awards' jury comprises experienced professionals from various fields, including industry, science, consulting, and media. Through extensive evaluation of 300 innovations from 100 international automotive suppliers, the jury identified CATL's trailblazing Qilin battery as a standout.

This marks the second time CATL has received the Most Innovative Automotive Supplier award. In 2021, CATL secured the prestigious honor for its outstanding innovation in "100kWh high-energy density battery technology," making it the first company globally to win in the "Drives" category.

The jury recognizes CATL's cutting-edge innovations, particularly in its Qilin battery. They commend CATL for its innovative battery pack design and cooling concept, which significantly enhances the performance and efficiency of electric vehicles. By increasing the cell-to-pack ratio, CATL achieves higher energy density and more efficient space utilization, resulting in extended range and improved battery performance.

CATL's Qilin battery, launched in June 2022, boasts groundbreaking achievements. With a record-breaking volume utilization efficiency of 72% and an energy density of up to 255 Wh/kg, it currently holds the highest integration level worldwide. Capable of delivering a range of over 1,000 km effortlessly, the Qilin battery stands as a testament to CATL's commitment to pushing the boundaries of battery technology.

Alongside CATL, other renowned companies such as Michelin, ZF, and NVIDIA were also recognized as "Most Innovative Automotive Suppliers" at this year's awards.
